School Security and Drills
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. To maintain a secure environment, all visitors must enter through the main entrance, located at the corner of Georgetown and Yale Roads, and use the buzzer system to request entry. Upon entering, visitors must report directly to the main office to sign in, state the purpose of their visit, and present valid photo identification. Visitors will be issued a building-specific badge that must be worn visibly at all times while in the school. Depending on the nature of your visit, staff members may request to verify your visitor badge while you are in the building. These protocols help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
Visitors are not permitted to walk through the building or enter classrooms without approval from office staff. We understand that families may occasionally need to drop off forgotten items such as lunches, backpacks, or library books. These items should be left in the main office and will be delivered to the classroom by school staff. This helps minimize classroom disruptions and maintains a safe school environment.
Students will only be released to individuals listed on the Student Pick-Up Authorization Form submitted by the parent or guardian. It is essential that this form is kept up to date throughout the school year. If changes occur, please notify both the main office and your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Anyone picking up a student will be required to show photo identification.
Emergency preparedness is a key part of our safety plan. Staff members are trained regularly, and safety drills including fire drills and other emergency procedures are conducted twice a month as required by state law. In the event of an emergency that requires evacuation and reunification at an alternate site, we will follow established student release protocols. Individuals picking up students at the relocation site must present photo identification to ensure a secure and organized reunification process. These protocols are reviewed and updated annually to ensure student safety remains our top priority.
