My Child is Sick Information

Sickness Reminders:

If your child will be absent, please call the district phone number (652-2700) and select the school absence line OR contact the nurse via email (Email Christa Taylor) to leave your child's name, the name of the teacher in the classroom and the reason for the absence. Follow up when your child returns to school by presenting a note or doctor's note from their parents.

Please keep your child's emergency contact information up to date. The nurse should be able to contact you if your child becomes sick or injured at school. Please do your best to include contact information for someone who has transportation to pick up your child.

What is the 24-hour rule? This is a guide that comes from the state guidelines for keeping your child home from school when they are sick.

Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, constant cough/sneezing/running nose, signs of pink eye that have not been seen by a doctor, new rash that has not been seen by a healthcare provider.

Your child must be fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school.

They should also stay home for 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea.

Even if your child wants to return to school, they could still be contagious to others and have a weakened immunity. Your child should be eating and drinking normally and feeling up to all activities. Returning too soon exposes other people to illness and causes inconvenience to parents who must be called to pick up their child.

Thank you!
