What About Health Benefits?

Do you participate in GPSD health benefits?  If so, review the paid leave and/or unpaid leave outlines below so you have a clear understanding of how this process works.

Employee Paid Leave:

  • Medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage will continue during an employee paid leave.

  • Employee will continue to have minimum premium payments deducted from their paycheck.

  • Employee has the option to drop insurance benefits while on an extended leave, with benefits reinstated upon returning to work.

Employee Unpaid Leave:

  • Medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage will continue for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave.

  • Employee must continue to make minimum required premium payments using the benefit premium statement provided by Human Resources.

  • Failure to make such payments will result in termination of benefits.

  • Employee has the option to drop insurance benefits while on an extended leave, with benefits reinstated upon returning to work.
