Substitute School Nurse Info

The following documents are required:

  1. Glassboro Employment Application

  2. Proof of Mantoux Test within Last 6 Months (TB/Mantoux Form)

Substitutes (nj.gov)

  1. Get a sponsor: school district / or service (ex. ESS)

  2. Get Fingerprints: criminal history background clearance (nj.gov)  (*if you’ve had this done see #5)

    1. Fingerprints must have county code (i.e. Gloucester is 15) / District or Sponsor 4-digit code and the term “Substitute Teacher” OR “Substitute Nurse” only.

    2. Codes should match where you are working or the teacher service that is hiring you out

  3. Apply here: NJEdCert

  1. Create an account – be sure to use the correct spelling of your name, include all contact information – email is how they will most likely communicate with you.

  2. Apply for “60-credit Substitute Teacher” credential – or “Substitute Nurse” credential

  3. Get “Official” Transcripts sent directly by your college / university /or Transcript Ordering Center  sent to: Email Cert application   

  4. After approx. 1 week of getting your fingerprints done  – if it looks like the attached document with the correct information from #2 – save as JPEG or PDF only and either upload it yourself to EdCert 

  5. NURSES: must also upload a copy of their valid nursing license.

 If you don't have a County Substitute Certification, please read below.
Please use the “Substitute Certification Checklist” as your guide to completing the substitute packet. Upon completion of the forms in their entirety, please assemble your packet in the order listed on the checklist and bring the information to the Glassboro Board of Education for processing. Remember these few things:

  • Packets will only be accepted if they are completed in full and they must include a copy of two forms of identification (see I-9 form for a list of acceptable documents)

  • Fingerprinting process must be completed prior to submitting your application.  Click on the “Fingerprinting Process” link for information on how to obtain your criminal history background.

  • Criminal History Review Letter stating that you are approved for public school employment must be attached for processing.  This form cannot be more than 5 months old.

  • Substitute Certificates are sent directly to the Glassboro Board of Education. Once we have processed it, you will receive your certificate via mail.

  • The entire substitute certification process takes 10 to 12 weeks. 

  • Upon meeting hiring requirements, paid orientation in each of our buildings will be provided.
