Lauren Kerr, Principal

Dear Thomas E. Bowe Middle School Parents and Guardians,

I am delighted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new principal of Thomas E. Bowe Middle School. It thrills me to be able to continue to work with such a dedicated staff and community that have made Thomas E. Bowe Middle School such a great place for students to learn and grow into young adults.

Although I have been at Bowe for the past three years, allow me to share a bit about myself for those who may not know.  I am entering my 26th year in education. I spent 22 of those years in the Kingsway Regional School District (my alma mater) as a special education teacher in the high school and middle school.  I also served as a high school assistant principal there for five years as well under the tutelage of Mr. Craig Stephenson.  I came to Glassboro and more specifically, Bowe in October of 2021 and have been the assistant principal here the past three years. Wherever I have worked, my passion for working with students has remained the same, as I strive to help them become the best versions of themselves. When I am not at Bowe Middle School, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my daughter who just entered middle school herself, and our two rescue pups, Dakoda and Finley.  Reading, cooking, gardening, and just spending time with family and friends are some of my favorite things to do.

As Thomas E. Bowe Middle School enters its third year since the merger of 2022, my goal is to continue to build upon the existing culture of excellence and achievement both inside and outside of the classroom.  This school and its culture are a true reflection of the collaboration with our exceptional staff as well as our families and community.  Our Bulldog PRIDE character program as well as our expanding extracurricular offerings and events continue to provide our students with a positive and well-rounded middle school experience.  We will continue to foster a positive, inclusive school culture that celebrates student success in all areas, promotes citizenship, and values the unique talents and contributions of everyone in our building.

I need to give a big thank you to Mr. Ken Silver, our interim principal, for all of his assistance and help since he took on this role in July. He was integral in overseeing our summer school program as well as assisting in the hiring of some of our newest staff members.  Mr. Silver will now be moving into the assistant principal role here at Bowe Middle School, as an interim, until the hiring process is complete.

I am a firm believer in open communication and collaboration, so I encourage you to actively engage in your child’s middle school education and experience.  Throughout the school year, you can expect regular updates on important events as well as academic and/or extracurricular achievements through newsletters, emails, or announcements on our website/Facebook page. I am truly thrilled to embark on this journey with all of you and look forward to seeing you throughout the school year.  Please feel free to reach out at lkerr@gpsd.us or 856-652-2700 ext 3101 with any questions or concerns.

Here’s to a great school year!  Go Bulldogs!

 Sincerely,

 Lauren N. Kerr
