For Immediate Release PR201819-Teacher of the Year February 4, 2019
Glassboro High School Names Caterina Dawson as Teacher of the Year!
Congratulations to Caterina Dawson, Glassboro High School Teacher of the Year! Dawson started teaching in the Glassboro School District in September 2000.
She teaches Italian at Glassboro High School and has taught Spanish there as well. She immerses students in both the language and traditions of Italy. If you’ve been to Glassboro’s Italian Festival, you’ve seen her Italian Club students march in the parade and perform authentic, Italian dances. Dawson and her students have performed at festivals throughout New Jersey and the Philadelphia area. They’ve even marched in Philadelphia’s Columbus Day parade!
In addition to this, Dawson has accompanied students to Italy, taught classes how to bake biscotti and pizzelles, and portrayed Befana for young children at the GHS Renaissance Pajama Party with Santa.
We thank her for going above and beyond for her students! Student Dawson will be honored at a County Luncheon in April and also at a Board of Education Meeting later in the school year.
