For Immediate Release PR01718-New BOE Member June 15, 2018
Glassboro Public Schools Welcomes Ryan C. Hughes to the Board of Education
The Glassboro Board of Education named resident Ryan C. Hughes to the Board of Education. Hughes will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Andrew Halter, who resigned to fill a position on Glassboro's Council.
Hughes is a science teacher at Triton High School and a long-time coach at RCGC. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biological Science. He has lived in the district for 14 years as a full-time resident and previously lived here for four years as a Rowan University Student. Hughes also has a son who is a student in the Glassboro Public School District.
Four candidates applied for this position and gave presentations at the June Board of Education Meeting. Hughes was selected by a vote of Board of Education Members. When Board members are elected to a full-term, that term lasts three years. When a vacancy is filled mid-term like this, the selected member fills the seat through the end of the current calendar year. The candidate and any other applicants for the full-time spot would then be able to file to run in the regular November (2018) election for a three-year term.
Please join us in welcoming Hughes to our Board of Education!
