Dear Families,

I am the ESL/ELL teacher here at Rodgers.  English language learners are students whose first language is not English.  My ELL classroom is a safe and nurturing environment for your child.  We will be building on your child's background knowledge and prior experiences.  In our ELL class, we will be learning how to become more proficient in the following areas: speaking, reading, writing, and listening in English.   We will be learning English through hands-on activities, singing songs, and dancing.  I strongly believe that maintaining your child's native language helps to ease their social and emotional transition here at school.  I am also here to help you (parents/guardians), so please reach out with any questions or concerns.  I look forward to working with you & your child.  I can be reached at arainear@gpsd.us.

Queridas familias,

Soy la maestra de ESL/ELL aquí en Rodgers. Los estudiantes de inglés son estudiantes cuyo primer idioma no es el inglés. Mi aula de ELL es un entorno seguro y enriquecedor para su hijo. Desarrollaremos los conocimientos previos y las experiencias previas de su hijo. En nuestra clase de ELL, aprenderemos a ser más competentes en las siguientes áreas: hablar, leer, escribir y escuchar en inglés. Aprenderemos inglés a través de actividades prácticas, cantando canciones y bailando. Creo firmemente que mantener el idioma nativo de su hijo ayuda a facilitar su transición social y emocional aquí en la escuela.
