• Welcome to American Sign Langauge 1Class

    Course Description

Welcome to American Sign Language (ASL) 1. This language course introduces students to American Sign Language as a World Language.  You will develop signing (expressive) and listening (receptive) skills to be used at a Novice-Mid to Novice-High proficiency level.  We will discuss what this means in class.

At the end of this course, you will be able to communicate through visual gestural communication; know the appropriate use of fingerspelling; identify and produce numbers in context; hold simple conversations in ASL about yourself, others, and activities in which you are involved.  You will also study Deaf culture and how it impacts the local, national, and international Deaf communities and those individuals who make up that community.

I look forward to spending the semester learning with you!
