Hester S. Hasheian
Hester Hasheian is a native of New Jersey, receiving her initial music education training directly across the street at Glassboro State College (Rowan Univeristy) before traveling out to the midwest where she obtained her Master's Degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
Ms. Hasheian has been a teacher since 1991, starting her career at the neighboring Washington Township and Kingsway Regional High Schools. She then traveled to the midwest to Michigan where she taught for sixteen years before returning to her home state.
Her primary focus is string pedagogy at the secondary level, but along the way she has taught in grades 3 through 6 where she feels that she gained a strong sense of the students' beginnings in strings. This has enabled her to be a better instructor of the individual string instruments as well as being able to see string education of a child on the full continuum.
Hester Hasheian is passionate about orchestra music, but is also a fiddle player and a singer in several area bands. She has recorded on several projects for artists in NJ, PA., and in MI. Some of her proudest accomplishments have been while playing in backing orchestras for artists such as; Aretha Franklin, Michael Bolton, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Randy Hauser, Michael Bolton.
Her goal is to provide the students of Glassboro with a well-rounded, all-inclusive string education bringing into the classroom all genres in which strings can be used: Classical, Bluegrass, Country, Folk, Pop, Rock, Jazz and the Blues, just to name a few.
Hester Hasheian is excited to see and hear what this year's students bring to the music classroom.
