The MATHCOUNTS Competition is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging "bee" style contests.  The program exists in all 50 states plus 5 U.S. territories and the Department of Defense and State Department schools and it is supported by the National Society of Professional Engineers at the state and local levels.  Public, private, religious and home schools alike are eligible to participate, as long as registered teams consist of 6th, 7th and/or 8th grade students.
I invite you to go to www.mathcounts.org for more information.
We meet after school on Tuesdays during the 2017- 2019 school year.
Everyone is welcome to the weekly club.  We do interesting problems and begin to get an idea of what the competition will entail.    Our competition team is chosen in December and competition is the first week of February.  The meeting times for the competition team increase as we get closer to competition.  Those students spend most of January with me after school.
We also participate in the Middle School Olympiad.  This is a school competition given at our regular meetings.
We have done very well in recent years.  We won our regional competition in 2009 and 2010.  Last year we came in fifth out of 20 schools.   Due to our success, we have been fortunate to attend the state competition in 2009, 2010, and 2012.
I look forward to another great year!!!
