Dear Rodgers School Families,
I am elated to introduce myself as the newly appointed Principal of J. Harvey Rodgers Elementary School. I am honored to have been selected to join the Glassboro Public School District administrative team. During my time in the district, I have had the opportunity to meet several district staff, family, and community members and have heard so many great and wonderful things about Rodgers Elementary. I am incredibly excited to assume leadership of such an extraordinary and reputable school.
I come to Rodgers Elementary with over 17 years of extensive and diverse experience as an educator. I have worked in various capacities within the Pre-K-8 grade span including teacher, librarian, and literacy coach. Most recently, I have served as an Assistant Principal in the Bridgeton Public School District. As an educator in the early childhood /elementary sector, I have spent my entire career working to develop strong early education platforms for students’ future learning experiences. I am inherently passionate about early childhood education and for this reason I choose a career path in the field of education.
My career accomplishments are notable, but my greatest achievement is not professional but personal in nature. It is the opportunity I get each day to be mom to my three brilliant and gifted children, Marcellus (18), Milan (16), and Michaela (11). It is this work that continually fills my life with meaning and purpose. This quote from Jonathan Kozol captures my philosophy of educational leadership, “I’d like to see the day when we do for every child what we do for our own.”
The ultimate goal of all my efforts will be to ensure that all students flourish and are successful. I am committed to strong school-family connections and believe that they are the foundation of student development and learning. I anticipate developing and maintaining productive working relationships with all Rodgers families as we partner to support the academic, social, physical, and emotional growth of our youngest learners. Together we will light a spark and point the way to a bright future for our students.
I have already begun planning and preparing for the 2019-2020 school year. I have been getting acquainted with our building, our community, and familiarizing myself with the unique needs of our school. I look forward to meeting your child and discovering more about the personality, learning style, and interests that make her/him unique and special.
I appreciate the opportunity I get to share your child’s early education experience with you and look forward to the work we will do together. In the future, feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas that you would like to share.
