Pit Orchestra ConductorMr. Arthur Myers is a 1992 graduate of Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He has been the band director at Glassboro High School for 27 years, serving as the director of the GHS Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble and Pit Orchestra. He also is the band director for the Glassboro Intermediate School, serving grades seven and eight. Mr. Myers served as the Department Chairman for the GHS Art/Music/World Language Department for five years and was named “Teacher of the Year” for Glassboro High School in 2011.
Outside of school, Mr. Myers is an active musician, performing throughout South Jersey, and beyond, as a trumpeter/cornetist with the such ensembles as the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble, the Fort Delaware Cornet Band (a Civil War re-enactment brass band) and the Pea Patch Brass. He also served as a member of the Atlantic Brass Band for over 25 years. The band has recorded eight CD's while Mr. Myers was been a member. The Atlantic Brass Band has performed in many North American Brass Band Association competitions and were crowned champions in 2011 and 2012. Mr. Myers has also traveled with them to perform in England, the Netherlands and Toronto, Canada. They have most recently (July 2013) traveled to the Netherlands to participate in the World Brass Band Championships. Mr. Myers is also active as a choir member, vocal soloist and orchestra member at Faith Bible Church in Vineland, New Jersey. He has also performed with various community bands throughout southern New Jersey.
Mr. Myers enjoys working with student musicians in Glassboro and beyond. served as the guest conductor for the Salem County High School Honors Band in 2011, the Olympic Conference Senior High Honors Band in 2016, the Atlantic-Cape Honors Band in 2018 and the Olympic Conference Junior High Honors Band in 2020.
