GPSD Cell Phone Policy and Procedures

  • As educators and leaders, it is our job to provide a healthy and safe community where all students are given the freedom to thrive.

Technology offers many benefits, fostering connection and self-expression. However, it also presents challenges, especially with personal devices like phones, earbuds, and smartwatches disrupting focus, safety, and community in schools. These devices have undermined the positive, inclusive culture we strive to maintain.

Recognizing the importance of time away from screens for healthy growth, we are implementing a bell-to-bell phone-free policy. Phones, earbuds, and smartwatches must be turned off or silenced and stored during the entire school day. While this change may feel challenging initially, we believe it will promote emotional and academic benefits.

If you have any additional questions after visiting our website, please email phonefree@gpsd.us. We appreciate your partnership in creating a healthy, supportive environment for our students.
