Mrs. Yuna Park

Dear Students, Staff, and Families,

I am honored to begin a new chapter at Glassboro High School and to have the privilege of building relationships with the wonderful community here.  The pride that Glassboro residents have in its history and heritage is evident and contagious, and I am beyond thrilled to officially become a Glassboro Bulldog.

I began my teaching career in 2002 at Joseph D. Sharp Elementary School in the Cherry Hill Public School District.  During my eight years there, I helped create our Student Ambassador Program, which tied directly to our Character Education curriculum and our core values as an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB/PYP) School.  I was an active member of our building-level leadership team and was trained in the IB/PYP program in order to turnkey training to our faculty.  I also participated in the district-level Cultural Competency Committee when it was first created over a decade ago.

After taking some time off to raise my children, I returned to teach at Helen L. Beeler School in the Evesham Township School District in 2017.  While there, I took on a variety of leadership roles which included Responsive Classroom Building Facilitator, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, School Improvement Panel, School Culture and Climate Committee, the District Re-Entry Committee, School Pandemic Response Team, I&RS, Math and ELA Curriculum Revision Team, and Liasion Committee.  I also created a monthly school newsletter that included all community stakeholders and led a staff book study on culturally responsive teaching practices in order to begin important conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Passion for the field of education runs in my family's blood and I come from a long line of educators from generations past and present, starting from my paternal grandfather, who was a principal in South Korea.  My husband and I both began our careers as teachers in the Cherry Hill Public School District and he is currently an elementary school principal in Cherry Hill.  My husband and I have two daughters, Sophia (12) and Taylor (10).  Both girls have played travel soccer since they were young, but Taylor also enjoys and excels at gymnastics while Sophia loves running and is on the track and field team at her middle school.  As a family, we enjoy traveling (especially to Colorado, where we have family), hiking, watching movies together, and reading.  We also have three dogs: Tucker (a labrador retriever), Piper (a border collie), Zella (half corgi, half Australian shepherd), and two cats:  Phineas and Sierra.  One could say without a doubt that we love animals!

Words cannot fully express how excited I am to work in partnership with you to help our students reach their fullest potential.  What particularly drew me to this district is the beautiful tapestry of cultures and ethnicities that make up our community.  This diversity of perspectives, voices, and experiences is what makes our school and district exceptional, and together, we will support our children in achieving their dreams and continue a tradition of excellence in Glassboro.

            Warmly,

            Yuna Park
