  • The butterflies have emerged!!

Posted by Kelly Yanek on 4/17/2020

On Wednesday, 4/15 our first butterfly emerged. A butterfly has four wings, two forewings and two hindwings. The butterfly hangs upside-down and pumps blood into the wings to inflate them. It must then wait for the wings to dry before it can fly.

By Friday, 4/17, ALL 5 of our butterflies had emerged and they were fluttering around their habitat. We put sugar-water and pieces of melon in for them to eat.

Stay tuned! We will be releasing them on Monday, 4/20/2020!!
