District Coordinator for Glassboro's Gifted & Talented Program

  • Greetings Glassboro!

My name is Dr. Castro, I am the Gifted and Talented Coordinator for the district. As the district’s GT Coordinator, my goal is to provide support for students who need more challenge to work at advanced levels. Promoting initiatives that are equitable and striving for excellence is my overarching goal. This never ending journey is one that takes a village: students, parents, teachers and community members. The GT Program is designed for students to foster a quest for intellectual stimulation for a lifetime through creativity and leadership development. In GT, we do not make excuses, we come up with solutions.  I am looking forward to growing the GT Program throughout the entire district and providing students with opportunities to thrive and display their abilities.

I grew up in Newark and Irvington, New Jersey.  I attended Saint Peter's University, where I graduated with a degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice.  I've always had a passion to work with children, and decided to become a teacher. I obtained my Master's Degree and have my Doctorate in Educational Technology Leadership from NJCU. I say this proudly, because when I graduated, I became the first person in my family to obtain a college degree.

I have three amazing boys, which are my life's greatest reward. I enjoy traveling with my husband, and going on long walks with my fur-baby, Kaya. I am fluent in three languages, and am a motivational speaker for my alma mater.  I volunteer for an organization called GUTSY (Guyanese United To Serve Youth).  This allows me the opportunity to work with schools in Guyana to build character education into their curriculum.

    Let's grow and learn together.

    Respectfully,

    Dr. Castro

Let's have a great school year! Goooo Bulldogs!
