THE PHILOSOPHY CLUB
-
The mission of the Glassboro High School Philosophy Club is to provide a safe space for students to engage in creative, intellectual discussions and projects that encourage critical thinking, free expression, and basic philosophical conceptions of the human experience that they may struggle with internally but not otherwise have an outlet to direct externally. The club includes a diverse group of students who wish to challenge their creativity and understanding of the world around them to grow mentally and emotionally. Most often, club meetings are conducted via Socratic seminar discussions that are supplemented with thought-provoking video clips, songs, and personal anecdotes that challenge students to reimagine their own belief systems through the lens of history’s greatest philosophers, including Socrates, Descartes, Wittgenstein, Freud, and others.
