For the 2024-2025 school year program, students presently in grades 6-11 (for 2023-2024) in surrounding school districts are eligible to apply for admission to the Performing Arts Academy in the Glassboro School District, through the Interdistrict Public School Choice Program Act of 2010. The Academy/School Choice students will attend Glassboro Intermediate or Glassboro High School, according to their grade level, as regular Glassboro students. Music students are provided music lessons through Rowan Community Music School, located across the street at Rowan University. In addition, 11th and 12th grade Academy students may enroll in music classes at Rowan University, for college credit. All of this is at no cost to the student. Students accepted to this exciting program will have the opportunity to participate in challenging academic classes and develop their artistic skills through participation in specialized classes and ensembles at the high school and at Rowan University through a cooperative dual credit program. Openings for Glassboro and out-of-district students will be made available through an audition process in the areas of art, band, strings, and choir.Students accepted to the Performing Arts Academy will be given a specialized performing arts education, where academic teachers team up with the Music Department to offer activities that include college credit classes, individual and class instruction, and participation in both high school and college level ensembles. Students will take advantage of all honors classes as well as a large offering of Advanced Placement classes at Glassboro High School. The school’s master course schedule will be built around the Academy schedule and Academy students will get priority scheduling. Academy students will be able to take advantage of the high-quality courses and ensembles at Glassboro High School, as well as the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
