Mr. Craig Stephenson
Mr. Stephenson began his tenure in the Glassboro Public School District in July 2018 when he was appointed principal of what was then Thomas E. Bowe Elementary School. In the Fall of 2022, Bowe transformed into our district middle school where Mr. Stephenson continued to serve as principal until his appointment as Chief Academic Officer in July 2024.
Over the past 30+ years as an educator, Mr. Stephenson has served in a variety of roles. For 14 years, he was a classroom teacher beginning with three years serving as a special education teacher for the Y.A.L.E. School in Williamstown, an alternative educational setting. He then accepted a position in July of 1997 as an English teacher at Elizabeth High School in Union County, New Jersey, where he taught language arts to multiple high school grade levels for three years. In July of 2000, he accepted a teaching position at Kingsway Regional High School and remained in this role for eight years. While a member of the teaching staff, he served as the English department chairperson, a baseball coach, and the school newspaper advisor. In July of 2008, he was appointed as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum for the Kingsway Regional School District. In this role, he worked with middle and high school teachers and students for three years until his appointment as principal of Kingsway Regional High School - a role he held for seven years.
Mr. Stephenson grew up in Clementon, New Jersey, attending Overbrook Regional High School in Pine Hill before completing undergraduate work (English & Communication) at Rutgers University in New Brunswick and graduate work (Educational Leadership) at Rowan University.
Mr. Stephenson resides in South Jersey with his family. His wife, Sumana, is also a 30-year educator, serving primarily as a special education teacher and most recently as an instructional coach. Their daughter, Ella, is a college student-athlete studying biomedical engineering, and their son, Cameron, is a high school student-athlete in a business leadership academy.
Mr. Stephenson and his family are likely to be found at a field hockey pitch, a baseball diamond, at Citizen’s Bank Park enjoying a Phillies game, trekking in a National Park or some other historic and/or scenic location, relaxing on the beach, and/or enjoying time with family, friends, and their dog, Buddy.
